October 2024,

Feeling attracted to someone can be exciting, but it can also be nerve-wracking when it comes to talking to them. Whether you first noticed them at a party or saw them across the room, the thought of starting a conversation with someone you're attracted to can be intimidating. It's important to remember that they are just a person like you, and with a little confidence and some current trends in your brain, you can have a successful conversation. One thing to keep in mind when talking to someone you feel attracted to is to be genuine. Trying to be someone you're not or pretending to like things you don't will only make the conversation feel unnatural, and it WILL be noticed. Instead, be yourself; let your true personality come out. This will not only make the conversation more enjoyable, but it will also show the other person that you are confident and comfortable in your own skin. Ask open-ended questions. This allows for more talk and thought. What do you think of ….? Or what experience have you had with….? Is not looking for a yes, no, or maybe reply. It shows that you are genuinely interested in getting to know the other person.

On the other hand, it's not just about talking, but also about listening. Pay attention to their responses and ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation flowing. Say that’s interesting can you tell me more about that? Lastly, don't be afraid to be vulnerable and share things about yourself. This will make the other person feel more comfortable opening up to you as well. Then you can confidently approach and talk to someone you feel attracted to.

When you start a conversation, remember that everyone experiences nerves when they don’t know you. Put them at ease. The person you're attracted to might be feeling the same way! So laugh and say it’s awkward talking to someone new I know, but I’m just a friend you don’t know yet so let’s give it a minute and maybe we can work on the knowing part a minute. I thought people who told me “ I don’t usually annoy people right away, and laugh. Keep the conversation light and fun and use a touch of humor. A genuine smile and a friendly attitude go a long way. Laughing connects people. Show that you're approachable and open to getting to know them. Watch their body language and non-verbal cues like eyes arms folded these cues are feelings. Are they making eye contact? Do they seem relaxed and engaged, or are their arms crossed defensively? This can guide the direction of the conversation and indicate whether they're feeling a connection or not too. If they seem receptive, you can go a little deeper, sharing a personal story or asking their opinion on something you're passionate about. This initial conversation is just the beginning. If it goes well, you've laid the foundation for the future outcome, and you can build on this by suggesting a follow-up activity or date. If it doesn't go as planned, don't be too hard on yourself. Not every connection will be a spark, and that's okay. Stay confident, and remember that there are many amazing people out there, you just might find that special someone; another friend you haven’t met yet.

Don't anything stop you from putting yourself out there. Instead of focusing on impressing them, focus on getting to know them as friendly human beings, having a good time, just like you. The person you least expect might just turn out to be the one for you. Don't give up; keep an open mind.

As for the age-old question of who should pay on a first date if you have a date, it's always a good idea to offer to split the bill or take turns paying. This shows consideration and fairness and takes away any pressure or expectations. Just be yourself and let the conversation flow naturally, and you might be pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Love at first sight is a romantic notion, but it's not always realistic. The initial attraction may be strong, but true love takes time and effort to develop. Instead of focusing on finding love at first sight, focus on building a strong connection with someone and letting your feelings grow naturally.

Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and go to new places you might not usually go. Stay true to yourself, but be respectful of others. Pushing for yourself, and too much too soon, is a turn- off, so take it easy. It's important to have fun and enjoy the journey, rather than focusing solely on the end goal. Remember, sometimes the most unexpected connections can lead to the greatest adventures. If you act desperate people pick up quickly that others are needy and a warm room will suddenly get chilly. Answers and conversations get shorter, eyes wander, arms fold, and people shift their bodies. That is the language of discomfort, learn to read it and step back. That's when you need to be quiet and get them to talk about themselves because they think you are all about you. Think “mutual respect”, there are always two people in a connection. First impressions mean a lot to people.

When entering into relationships with those who have different religious and cultural backgrounds, it's important to have open and honest communication. Take the time to learn and understand each other's beliefs and values, and find ways to compromise and respect each other's differences. Don't let these differences become barriers, but rather opportunities to learn and grow together. Be patient and understanding, and always keep an open mind. Who knows, your next adventure could lead you to a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures and beliefs. Don't compromise your beliefs for the sake of a relationship, but also be open to learning and experiencing new things. Relationships with religious and cultural differences may have their challenges, but they can also bring a unique and enriching experience. So, don't be afraid to take a chance and see where it leads you.

You may have heard of love scams, where scammers prey on people's emotions and manipulate them to gain financial benefits. These deceptive schemes are prevalent today, where people from different countries and backgrounds can easily connect and form relationships online. Despite the risks and challenges, opening yourself to new experiences can also bring many wonderful opportunities and connections. When it comes to love scams, it's important to be aware of the signs that someone might be taking advantage of you. Be cautious if the person you're talking to asks for money or financial assistance, especially if it's for a supposed emergency or for a trip to visit you. Be wary of inconsistencies in their stories or if they refuse to video call or meet in person. If the relationship progresses too quickly, that could also be a red flag. Always trust your instincts, and don't be afraid to ask questions or do your own research. However, don't let the fear of being scammed stop you from connecting with people from different backgrounds. Every individual is unique, and you never know who you might meet and what kind of enriching experiences you might have. Just be mindful and cautious, and don't be afraid to take a chance and see where it leads you. After all, the world is full of amazing opportunities and connections waiting to be discovered.

Meeting new people can be an intimidating experience, especially for those who struggle with social anxiety. It can be nerve-wracking to put yourself out there but don't let fear hold you back. Instead, be mindful and cautious, but also be open to taking chances and seeing where they may lead you. Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be scary, but it's often where the most growth and learning can occur. By being willing to engage with new people and try new things, you open yourself up to a world of incredible opportunities and connections. Don't be afraid to push yourself, and be open to meeting new people; you never know what kind of perspectives you may gain. You have nothing to lose; we are all the same.

The hardest part is knowing what to say and how to say it so you sound fairly intelligent and connected with the world. Confidence is what makes us all capable of walking with kings and talking with fools. We are who we think we are and who we aspire to be. Never be in awe of someone and think you are less. If they make you feel less by their words, they don’t know you. Many pretend to be more than they are, but we all start off the same as we end, incapable of speaking and equal. This is not a contest or a race. We share the world. Own your part of it and be confident that you are not alone.

How confident are you in meeting new people? What to you say to make people comfortable? Tell us in the comments below.
